Robbie Williams is back with the single Candy and shows he still got what it takes to make it to the top of the billboards. The single, from William’s ninth studio album Take the Crown, enjoyed its first video airplay on Radio 2’s Breakfast Show with host Chris Evans.
Candy was written by Williams, together with his Take That pal Gary Barlow and Terje Olsen. It’s catchy upbeat song that tells about a woman who has high opinions about herself. The fun song sounds awfully familiar because of the tempo but Williams is able to make it sound fresh and current. Although it has yet to achieve the status that Rock DJ did at its height, Candy is carried through by Williams’ cocky charm. It certainly is catchy, and for a summer radio song it’s perfect. Majority of the world seem to agree.
In the UK, the summer song accumulated more than 10,000 radio plays before it was even released as a digital download in October 28, 2012. Candy continued to skyrocket in UK Singles Chart finally reaching #1 in a matter of weeks. In Germany and Austria, it is one of the most played songs – peaking at #3 in Austria’s Top 40 Chart. And it doesn’t show any signs of moving down at the moment.
Robbie William’s Candy definitely belongs in your summer playlist. In fact it’s so good you can enjoy until Valentine’s Day so you can sing it to the girl you’re breaking up with.
